As program director for the KCC, Mrs. Simmons guides the efforts of the Kinship Navigators in providing services to grandparents and other caregivers of children not their own in Montgomery County, Ohio. In addition, she works with kinship coalitions statewide to address issues that affect kinship caregivers and their families. Mrs. Simmons has served in the capacity of president of the Ohio Grandparent Kinship Coalition for the last four years. Additionally, she serves on the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services Kinship Advisory Board and on the Subcommittee on Responding to Child Abuse, Neglect, and Dependency of the Ohio Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on Children, Families and the Courts.

As part of the teaching team, Mrs. Simmons is an instructor for the Community Health Advocacy course, a 10-week training program taught twice yearly at the Center for Healthy Communities office at Elizabeth Place.

Mrs. Simmons obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Administration in 1994 from Ohio University. Mrs. Simmons received a Master of Public Administration degree from Wright State University in 2010. She also holds a Gerontology Certificate from the Division of Aging, Gerontology Certification Board. In her spare time, she enjoys roller skating, shopping and volunteering in her community.
