Guy M Newland, M.D.
Guy M. Newland, MD, FACEP is Medical Director for the National Center for Medical Readiness. The Medical Director is the chief medical advisor to NCMR leadership team and staff, and is responsible for the medical components of the continuing education, including review and approval of all instructor-created lesson plans. The medical director serves an important function as the liaison with the local medical organizations. Through these affiliations, the medical director should promote EMS education locally and regionally.
Dr. Newland retired after 24 years of USAF service in the rank of Colonel. His career encompassed leadership positions in operational/aeromedical readiness and Emergency Medicine. After service he has worked as Emergency Department Medical Director in a Dayton-area hospital, and as contract physician at 88 MDG, Wright-Patterson AFB. He has held a faculty appointment in the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine for nearly 20 years. He is also faculty of the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine and practices as a Flight Surgeon attached to the Aeromedical Consultation Division.
He holds instructor credentials in EMS, BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS and NDLS courses. He has worked in curriculum review for the National Disaster Health Consortium.
