Dr. Nimisha Patel is a Professor of Educational Psychology and the Assistant Chair of the Teacher Education Department in the College of Education and Human Services. Nimisha teaches courses in educational psychology at the undergraduate and doctoral levels as well as master’s-level courses in educational assessment and research. She spends a great deal of time implementing strong pedagogical practices in all of her courses, with respect to both instruction and assessment; this includes the purposeful incorporation of various technologies. In addition to serving on numerous committees at WSU and facilitating workshops for the CTL, Nimisha provides pedagogy-focused professional development workshops for numerous area school districts. Nimisha’s current research focuses on two areas: 1) STEM education, particularly as related to high school students’ engagement and academic achievement and 2) generativity and social capital as underlying factors of parent involvement in middle schools.
