Andrew Bass is a performing artist and educator in the greater Cincinnati area. He enjoys an active performing and teaching schedule. He is an accomplished performer and has appeared with groups such as the Cincinnati Symphony, Cincinnati Opera, United States Coast Guard Band, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Kentucky Symphony, New Bedford Symphony, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra and more. Andrew has also attended the Aspen Music Festival and the National Orchestral Institute.

Andrew enjoys performing as a chamber musician and soloist. He was a finalist of the International Horn Symposium Premiere Solo Competition and was awarded first prize with his Woodwind quintet for the Honors Chamber Competition while attending New England Conservatory. He has appeared as a soloist with Symphony New Hampshire as well as the Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony. Andrew also enjoys exploring and performing lesser known solo repertoire as well as different styles of music. He has recorded some lesser known works for Organ and Horn in Gaston Litaze’s Triptyque and Sven August Körling’s Pastorale and performed a themed recital revolving around Jazz.

Growing up in a family of music educators, Andrew is a strong advocate in the music education sphere. He has been teaching for twelve years as a private teacher, sectional, and chamber coach. He currently has private studios at Mason City Schools, Milford City Schools, Kettering City Schools, Piqua City Schools, and Lakota City Schools. Some of his former teaching engagements include Southern New Hampshire University, the Winchester Community Music School, the Manchester Community Music School, and the Covenant Christian Academy among many others.

Andrew studied horn performance at the New England Conservatory and received both his Bachelor’s (16’) and Master’s (18’) in music performance. While attending NEC he studied under the principal horn of the Boston Symphony James Sommerville as well as the fourth horn Jason Snider.

Outside of music, Andrew enjoys spending time outdoors whether that be hiking, kayaking, or traveling. He can also be found watching his favorite sports teams in the St. Louis Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals.
