Jim joined the Lake Campus Tech Support team in April of 2021.  Jim brings over 30 years of technical support experience to WSU.  He spent 8 years with Alcon Laboratories supporting physicians and staff of Ophthalmologist offices in the use of a practice management system.  He was with Premier Health partners in Dayton for 17 years, coordinating the day to day activities of a desktop support team.  Most recently, Jim worked for Crown Equipment Corporation in New Bremen Ohio, implementing and supporting technology used to automate lift trucks.

Jim and his wife Becky live in New Bremen, Ohio, where Becky pastors a local church.  They have two adult sons.  Their oldest is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) and George Mason University.  Their youngest graduated from WSU Lake Campus, and is pursuing a PhD at Texas Christian University.  They have a weekend cottage on Grand Lake St. Marys.  Jim hopes to commute to work by boat in the future.

Jim is a Trombone and Euphonium player, and performs with groups whenever he can.  Two dogs make their home with the Strangs:  Shadow (a Black Lab / Great Dane mix) and Pilot (a brindle colored mix of everything).

Jim is a licensed amateur radio operator (HAM).  His call sign is W8NFR.
