Dr Michael Koon holds degrees in vocal performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the University of Wisconsin, Dean Witter School of Music.  He has taught voice and related topics at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, in the Univeristy system of Wisconsin both at Madison and Platteville, Olympic College, Bremerton, WA, Dundalk Community College in Baltimore, and Auburn University where he directed the opera workshop and instituted it's first lyric diction curriculum. Among his forty operatic roles are included John Falstaff, Dr. Malatesta, Guglielmo and Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte, Peter in Handel and Gretel and the Vicar in Albert Herring.  He has worked with conductors such as Sir David Willcocks and Jonathan Willcocks, Claudio Scimone, Dean Williamson, Anton Guadagno and Friedrick Prausnitz. At Peabody he studied French diction with Maitre Thomas Grubb, author of Singing in French. At the Crane School he revised the French diction curriculum and served as the French diction professor for three years. He joined the Faculty at Wright State University in 2019.
