Dr. Johnson facilitates a diagnostic and prescriptive approach to improve learning skills and academic outcomes among students enrolled at WSU's Boonshoft School of Medicine. She monitors the academic progress of all BSOM students to meet the students and the overall educational objectives. Dr. Johnson provides individually planned study and time management. She reviews MCQ performance data, study strategies, and authoritative materials. Dr. Johnson creates study plans for BSOM Foundation courses. She provides planned approaches to optimizing preparation and performance on the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 (CK) exams.
Dr. Johnson also coordinates, directs, and supervises the BSOM Peer Tutoring Program - facilitated by Peer Leaders Tutors in weekly Peer-Led Group Learning Events that present questions intended as general sef-assessment of the weekly peer instructions (PI) and team-based learning (TBL) discipline topics. These Events are structured, collaborative processes in which Peer Leader Tutors present questions intended to broaden and enhance understanding, improve performance, and build critical thinking skills. Events also serve as a mechanism to foster active learning, encourage accountability, and provide immediate, constructive feedback.
Dr. Johnson coordinates and manages workshops (i.e., USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 (CK) prep/orientations, Dedicated Study Schedule Making, Series related to Step 2 (CK) disciplines), as well as assigning individual Peer Leaders to tutor medical students.
